Lent: Palm Sunday | Wes Hodgson
As we reflect on the events of Palm Sunday, we're invited to explore the profound themes of repentance and restoration. The Gospel of Mark paints a vivid picture of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, but it's what happens before and after that truly challenges us. We see Jesus weeping over the city, foreseeing its destruction due to their misplaced hopes and refusal to embrace true peace. This serves as a powerful reminder for us to examine our own hearts and ensure we're not missing God's true purpose in our lives. The cleansing of the temple further illustrates God's righteous anger against injustice and corruption, especially when it's done in His name. Are there areas in our lives where we've allowed injustice to take root? The fig tree parable offers a stark warning about the importance of bearing spiritual fruit. Let's ask ourselves: are our lives producing the fruit of faith and forgiveness that God desires? This message challenges us to stay connected to the true vine, Jesus Christ, and to cultivate a life that bears lasting fruit for His kingdom.
