What would it take for you to stand firm in your faith when everything is on the line? In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced a blazing furnace rather than bow to a false idol. They told the king plainly that God was able to deliver them -- but even if he did not, they still would not worship another god. That kind of faith is staggering.

The miracle was not just that they survived. They walked out without a single singed hair and without even the smell of smoke on them. God was with them in the fire, visibly present even to those who did not believe.

The same God who met them in that furnace sent his Son to face death on a cross so that we would never be separated from his love. As Romans 8:38-39 reminds us, nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. When you face your own fire, you do not face it alone.
